Hey folks -

I wasn’t there, but thanks to this blog – I get little e-mails from time-to-time about bog-worthy fashion happenings.  Here’s the body of the e-mail (the images follow).

For Daniele Alessandrini the next fall/winter season has the scent of authenticity, the warmth of a rich sartorial tradition finding new expression in the textile research and shape evolution that forever form the brand’s benchmarks.

The result is a totally edgy statement for today’s man of distinction. As in one original twin set: pindot-effect hooded pea coat + cross-twill jacket. It’s all about a classy layered look where the secret is in the extra light construction.

Another indication of the designer’s focus on research comes in the latest-generation parka with blanket lining and in the equally innovative revisitation of the Tyrolean loden.

The legendary coat in thick woollen cloth returns big in a above-the-knee version where the modern flair emerges above all in the edging on sleeves and in the selection of unusual colours (beyond the standard palette of dark blue and loden green).

Here are the images I was sent – enjoy.  I talk about the styles and my personal preference following each shot.

Daniele Alessandrini FW 12 Parka

This look is my least favorite of the three images just because it’s not my style – not necessarily because it’s a bad look.  While the tones are definitely right for the season and masculine with an edge – it just feels disjointed to me because of the stark contrast of clean cut edges with the frayed layering.  That’s seriously my only complaint – but it’s a big one for me as a whole.  I do love the details that are present (e.g. the two-tone coloring of the rolled-up cuffs).  I imagine the shoes got a bit more play at the actual show as well.  I’m big on that because it’s the smaller “co-stars” of the outfit that bring the entire look together.  Haha – and in the words of one of my all-time favorite movies – when it comes to the suit material, “What is that – velvet?!”

Daniele Alessandrini FW 12 Twin-set

The patterns play together nicely here and I imagine the textures would as well.  I’m a huge fan of layering – and this looks like it will keep you both warm and stylish.  There’s not a lot of color present in this outfit, but that’s fine here for me.  Also, unlike the first outfit, I feel like a majority of skin tones could wear this one.  With the first look (and I’m only conscious of this because of a friend), I’d be hesitant to recommend that palette to someone with darker skin.  Why?  Well because they’d blend in.  Seriously – it’s not a joke, one of my friends is all too concerned about that when he picks things out because he has darker skin.  The shoes work well with this one, and I love that they put the model in lighter socks to break things up as he strides.  And bonus points for the scarf selection.

Daniele Alessandrini FW 12 Loden

This look works the most for me because it’s how I dress.  I’m a fan of the colors that were selected (a much better use of the shirt from the first image in my opinion), and I dig how the shoes get a chance to become a more forward player in this outfit.  Summing this one up quickly – I’d be most likely to buy something like this (as a typical everyday Gent not necessarily heading to an occasion).

All-in-all, just judging from these few images, this looks like a pretty sweet collection.  I’m not a fashion expert – as I always mention on these types of posts – but I’d definitely wear certain elements of each outfit, and recommend this designer to anyone looking for style-over-fashion.

There you have it – what do you think of the looks that were shared in this post?  What outfits, or pieces thereof, would you wear or buy for someone you know (assuming you could afford it – for the sake of the question)?  Tell me your thoughts in the Comment Section below.

Peace and thanks for reading.
