Greetings GRDXers. It’s that time again!

Casual with a hint of class.

Today’s topic for the watch guide is The Casual Watch!

So what is the Casual Watch? No, it’s not the Everyday watch like one would think (at least in my head). The Casual Watch has one specific purpose: to accent your casual outfit. This watch is not to be worn on a daily basis to work or for play, this is a little more specific than that.

The casual watch in my opinion is a watch that can be worn on the weekends and evenings when one is out having a relaxing time with friends, taking a walk, checking out a play/musical or hanging out with that special Lady-gent in your life. This watch is good for chilling at a lounge not a club. I would not recommend that you take this watch to the club; it’s not that kind of watch and finds itself uncomfortable in large party situations.

This watch, regardless of the price should be something that you will feel very-very-comfortable in. The Casual Watch should be easily concealable, not easily noticed – yet flashy enough to start a conversation when someone sees it. The Casual Watch should be very subtle. It should have a moderately sized face, so large faced watches like our friends at Invicta need not apply in this category.

For the Casual watch, I personally recommend either Kenneth Cole or Skagen. Like many companies, they have their flashy, smack you in the face, “look at me” watches… but when it comes to Casual, these two reign supreme in my opinion.

When I hear Kenneth Cole, I personally think casual and subtle with a hint of awesome. I personally own one Kenneth Cole watch. Many of their watches are casual in nature and are a perfect fit for this section of the watch guide. Kenneth Cole watches are very durable and fairly priced I believe. If you look hard enough, one can find a Kenneth Cole anywhere from $50 to $200. $200 is the highest I’ve seen for one of their watches (though I’m sure they have higher prices), but remember there is no reason to spend that much on a watch. I suggest checking Amazon, Macy’s or World of Watches for a good deal.

The same goes for Skagen.

Skagen personally takes the cake for me. It’s a very clean watch that has a very low profile. Whenever I wear mine, I forget that I have it on. It’s THAT light (at least the model I have is that light). *I’m keeping my review on Skagen short to prove a point.* It’s a subtle low profile watch. Skagens start at around $70 and go up from there. They can also be located at Amazon, Macy’s and World of Watches.

What do you think about my definition of The Casual Watch? What do you define as a “casual” watch? Please share your thoughts in the Comment Section below.

Until the next session…
