Master Chief. If you don't know this series, well....
Greetings GRDXers.
I’m not sure how many of you know or follow this game series, but I am a huge fan of Halo. Recently, Halo released its 10 year anniversary of what I consider to be the greatest game released during it’s era. That’s right, I said it. The new game is Halo: Combat Evolved.
That isn’t what I’m here to talk about though. What sparked the subject of this is from a slew of videos that were released simultaneously with the release of Halo.
Within each video, I kept hearing a recurring theme. I kept hearing that when gamers provided feedback to Bungie (the franchise is now being done by 343) about the game and what they did or didn’t like, Bungie did something that many corporations don’t do unless forced by millions (i.e. Bank of America).
They listened.
Why is this crucial? Let’s see they are your customers. If they don’t like it, they will leave. It’s pretty simple. Bungie kept their gamers by not only producing a superb game with a deep immersive multiplayer, they listened to customer complaints.
I’ve been around video games all my life, and I must say that I’ve never found myself completely angry with gaming companies (note, I didn’t say completely. I have my grievances with the industry that is for another post).
Below are some things that I think many corporations should try when their consumers complain about something.
- Listen to them. Don’t just give your customer a blind eye when they complain about something. They have a reason for it, and it may just save your business if you lend an ear. Netflix and Bank of America sort of did this when they received backlash for certain things they did.
- Act. Instead of telling customers that you heard them and then do nothing to change it, ohh I don’t know change it. Why do you think there are so many modifications, additional downloads etc. to video games? Aside from these obvious additions, there are typically fixes to the game itself. Typically based on gamers findings. Hmm.
I don’t see much else to say. I’m sure that this won’t solve all the issues that people have with companies, however I’m sure it will solve a few of them.
What do you think are other issues facing corporations/businesses/sole proprietorships etc.? Please post your comments in the Comment Section below!
Remember, Every new meaningful input demands a disorganization and recalibration of your reality.
