Everybody likes a little challenge in the form of a mystery. Once that mystery is gone, things get boring.
Think about it – you love playing a game when it’s somewhat challenging and you’re trying to figure out how to win, but once you KNOW the secret – things get boring after a little while. I think the Man of Mystery has mastered that fact of Life.
Don’t confuse being a “Man of Mystery” with “having a mysterious past” either.
What would you assume this dude's day job is?
When I talk about Men of Mystery – I’m referring to the ones who have money, but you don’t know how they got it. Or if a Lady asks him, “What type of woman do you like?” he often replies something like, “You’ll find out if it’s ever important for you to know.” That’s the mystery of it all; it’s what makes the person a fun thing to solve. Not someone who you just don’t know what he did last year, or what made him the way he is. In those cases he just has an unknown past – but he could be extremely forthright in the present, removing the mystery as to his present character. Does that make sense?
People stay interested in this guy because he NEVER lays all of his cards out on the table. His motivations are an unknown and the unknown is dangerous. Women like a little danger. Danger is also a little fun and, if the saying is correct (as cliche as it sounds), girls just want to have fun.
The only way I can really explain this next point “properly” is through analogies so I hope no one hates me for that.
"Man OF Mystery" - NOT man who SOLVES mysteries.
They say the Men hunt and Women fish. Although both activities give you the food you want, they each require different skills. Now think about people who fish for the joy of it – not for food. Why are they fishing? It’s calming, it can lead to great conversation if you have company and it’s always exciting to get that unexpected bite. There’s fun in NOT knowing for those who fish – and women fish. The Man of Mystery is wrapped in the unknown (haha – by definition).
Since he likes to be left to his own devices – he doesn’t really get into other peoples’ business. Most people in general (not just women) tend to not like other folks snooping into their affairs. Well – Mr. Mystery will never snoop in your business, because he understands the value of privacy (and I think Ladies sense that). It’s a nice plus to have.
Don’t forget the possibility that he can show Women new things – or at least he seems to be able to do that anyway. His “mysterious” connections, and possibly even another Life, can lead to multiple chance encounters and experiences the average person may not have had access to on their own.
He adds mystery to the Life of everyone he interacts with while staying certain in who he is. If he wasn’t sure of himself – he’d be a mystery to even himself. I think people find a comfort in that. There’s something about knowing the other person you’re dealing with comfortably navigates the unknown… I o’no… even as a Gent – that’s not an unwanted trait (in a partner) in these times.
And we totally can’t forget that some people just feel honored getting to know more about private people. There’s something that makes anyone feel great about being allowed in closer to a “distant” person.
